I've just had a look for him, and he's no longer listed. I've had the wheel about 18 months. It was a UK

how are the quality of these aftermarket wheels? are they thicker than the OEM RS7 steering wheel?
Also, i know the heated steering wheel option will no longer work, but what about the Audi Lane Assist?

Quality with the wheels from Neidfaktor are second to none and I have never had a customer with an issue with the wheel on arrival or after years of service.

Any type of vibration for a lane departure system is in the steering column/rack itself and remains intact.

was also planning on getting it with the Extended carbon paddle shifters as well since it adds a perfect touch to the interior IMO!

You guys really think that $2,000 is appropriate for a steering wheel? I mean I understand Quality but damn.
Some of the Most expensive steering wheel options for my vette were still under 1000 lol.
Rather put that money towards go fast parts or wheels.

2015 S6 - Garnet Red, Black Optics, EPL Stage 1 within hours of ownership. Just need an exhaust mod.
    2014 SQ5 - SOLD - Gone but not forgotten.

While I agree $2k+ is a lot of money for a wheel, you're comparing a Vette interior to an Audi

Starting with a new Audi steering wheel is already $700+ and the carbon work and finishing is being done in Germany. There is a bit of the Audi tax for sure, but comparing to American parts costs and anything made out of the EU will definitely net a big difference.

I spent over $2k on my custom corvette steering wheel including the the leather stitched hornpad. What's expensive is always subjective. The wheel was hand stitched in canada and customized exactly to my interior. Google Caravaggio corvette.

And yes you can compare the corvette interior to an almighty Audi. My corvette cost well over what the A cars go for and a loaded Z06 goes for more than $100k. Call me lunatic but I find the interior in my vette nicer than my S7's. The dash and door trims are leather stitched vs the rubberized plastic in our Audis. Obviously if you don't care about these things then you're lucky but I'm weird and I do. Same for the Q7. The door and dash are plastic but at least you have the option to get leather through exclusive but for an eye watering $25 which puts you at a different car class if you ask me.

The interior in our cars is getting long in tooth and clearly due for an upgrade. Thank the powers there is Neidfaktor!

I have a flat bottom carbon fiber wheel for sell.

  • 10-03-2017 04:20 AM#21

Got my wheel from a reputable seller on ebay. Can custom make almost anything you want that audi offers (Alcantara, leather, perforated leather, white/red/black stitching, stripe at 12 o'clock, etc.). It cost me $800 with airbag shipped. Sorry but I think $2k for a steering wheel is crazy. They go for dirt cheap in Europe.

The current Vette is pretty nice, but you have to only go back to the C6 where a leather interior cost almost $10k and it shared the same steeeing wheel as a Cobalt. Sometimes perception lags reality after decades of interior crap on the Corvettes.

I went with alcantera instead of carbon, but have purchased items from both europrice and tag and they have both done right by me (sourced this one plus buttons from tag). Lots of combinations available depending on the mix of leather, alc, and carbon, whether you do 50/50 or not, and top/bottom vs. left/right sides. I personally like having the leather where my hands are most of the time and feel it blends with the airbag itself the best, but obviously that is very subjective. One thing I found out from my research is that no one can / is willing to mess with the airbag's ugly dimpled plastic, so tough to eliminate that. But, in the grand scheme of things it is tolerable and the safety of your airbag is probably not something to mess with...

Anyhow, here is a picture for more idea fodder.

You'll have to confirm with someone smarter than me, but as long as it takes a regular FB wheel, I dont see why not.

yessir (although I didnt have them wire up the valve buttons as I have a non-valved exhaust--but I am told it can be done). The drive select button on the wheel is one of my favorite things I've done. I like leaving the mmi screen tucked away and still being able to flip through modes is huge. You can do this the simple way with the RS7 performance button, but the added benefit of traction control and start/stop at your fingertips is nice and looks different to boot.

The additional controls on kpriv's wheel can be added to any facelift flat-bottom wheel. They do require some installation work which is custom, trimming of the steering wheel, and then there is a module that must be installed in the dashboard with wiring that taps into the wiring of the functions around the car the new add-on controls work with plus power and ground. It's not the most daunting wiring work, but a lot of inquiries I have received are hoping that this is a plug-and-play system.

Also note that for pre-facelift models the Drive Select mode switching isn't available as of yet.

    Controls | Post-Facelift Flat-Bottom Performance

One of the better ways to have these fitted is to order with a custom wheel. That way they can be integrated to the wheel for you. Then all you or your shop has left is to wire up the control module.

If anyone has more questions on this let me know here or don't hesitate to PM or email: [email protected]

    Cheers,

Nice, that looks much better than the plastic. For some reason, I could only find options for the c7.5 airbags that go with the round wheels, not the flat bottom. But worth checking into and appreciate the info.

check with HazzyDayz on retrofitting it - they'll tell you how much work it is and if you'll need any parts... they're ex-VAG/Audi sparkies and even retrofitted a brand new R8 wheel to my old A4 (B6 gen!)... they gave a great description on the mistakes people make when converting dual stage airbags into a car with single stage sensors - but that shouldn't be a problem for you. Then you can choose to get them to fit it or at least have a better idea of how much work it'll be and what it'll require :)

Here's a link to the upgrade that they do: https://www.hazzydayz.com/genuine-a...unction-steering-wheel-supply--fit-4350-p.asp

But ignore the price as most of that will be the cost of the wheel (that was >£800 when I did it to mine in 2007, but back then the R8 was the only donor car for FBMFSW's... so mine was new, direct from Audi!

I ended up getting mine hooked up with EVERYTHING - including the microphone for voice controlled RNS-E satnav, all the dials and buttons, DIS controls, etc...
