How to &#;Screw&#; your playthrough

As it turns out, there are plenty of possibilities to screw around in the world of Fallout 4. Commonwealth is the land of many opportunities. If you find yourself screwed, there are tons of solutions. If you are screwing around a bit, you can use the help of merchants to obtain missing material. If your needs are big, there are places to farm the material. Lastly, if you need the material on a constant basis, there are Junk items you would like to collect.

This guide is compatible with any version of Fallout 4, be it PC, Xbox or PS.

Items to hunt and the Scrapper Perk

The Desk Fans, Typewriters, and Hot Plates. These are the items you will be looking for to resupply yourself with Screws. Desk Fans and Hot Plates are the best ones, as they are effective in terms of weight and value(Desk Fan breaks into two Gears, two Screws and two pieces of Steel while Hot Plate breaks into a piece of Cooper, Screw, and two Circuitries).

Also, they are the ones you will meet a lot. Any office building you will encounter, and not only office will provide you with tons of Desk Fans. The same story is with Hot Plate. Any building that has a kitchen, or some sort of dining room in it, will have Hot Plates. Apart from the items mentioned above, you can also find Screws in different types of Toys, Globes, and other Junk items. But they are less encountered than Fans, Hot Plates, and Typewriters.

Here is a funny story about Screws. They are mostly used to craft some upgrades for ranged weapons. At the same time, ranged weapons will be the source of Screws if you skill the Scrapper Perk. Every time you will Scrap a ranged weapon you will get some amount of the material. The more upgraded the weapon is, the more mat you will get. You might also want to put another point in Scrapper Perk. It will not only provide you with more high-tech mats when scrapping items but will also highlight any item that contains material tagged for search.

Toys and the Police Station

Let&#;s start with toys. It turns out they are more efficient when it comes to screwing. And here I’m talking about Atomatoys. Wilson Atomatoys and the buildings you can find them in. The toys and their parts are a source of not only Screws but also Gears, Springs and Steel. You will find lots of Wilson Atomatoys in Wilson Atomatoys Corporate HQ and Wilson Atomatoys Factory.

The first building is situated to the right from the Diamond City. The HQ is guarded by the Superb Mutants and their pets. Once you clear the place out, you should have around 60+ pieces of the material. Inside the building, apart from usual Junk items like Desk Fan and Toy Car, you will Giddyup Buttercups (they give three Gears, five pieces of Steel, four Springs and four Screws) and Giddyup Buttercup Bodies (they give two pieces of Steel, two Springs, and two Screws). Other than that, there will be other parts of the pony toy. They will provide you with Steel, Springs, and Gears, but won&#;t give Screws.

The same story is with seconds building &#; Wilson Atomatoys Factory. It will also supply you with Giddyup Toys. However, the numbers will be smaller, so you will end up with the number of Screws around 40 pieces. Also, the building is situated more southern than HQ, so it has more difficult enemies. The Factory is situated to the far South-East. Almost at the end of the map.

If you are going to visit the Factory, make sure you pay a visit to Arlen Glass. He is an NPC situated in the Slog. He will give you the quest regarding Wilson Atomatoys Factory. You can find the Slog in the far north-east part of the map. The Slog is a small location that is inhabited only by Ghouls. Arlen Glass is one of these Ghouls. He will be in the outbuilding that is situated to the right from the Tarberry Pool. Don&#;t worry! All the Ghouls in the location are friendly. They won&#;t bite!

Lastly, there is Cambridge Police Station. It&#;s the place where you first meet Paladin Dance. It is far from Sanctuary, to the South-East. Here you can find tons of items. The good old Desk Fans will supply you with different mats as well as with Screws.

If you have a lot of Caps or like to trading with merchants

As I’ve said before, Screws can also be bought from different merchants around the world of Commonwealth. Let&#;s start with Trashcan Carla. Probably, she will be the first merchant you will meet, as she often travels around the world and can be found in Bunker Hill. Bunker Hill is the city situated to the Far East. You can find merchant wing to the right from the main entrance. Carla will sell a shipment of Screws. It contains 25 pieces of the material.

Diamond City will be another place where you can buy a shipment. Visit the Diamond City Market. Search for Arturo. He stands behind the bar with Japanese Protectron. Arturo is ranged weaponry dealer, but he also sells shipments with different mats, one of which is a shipment of Screws. If you happen to not discover Diamond City, it is situated far from Sanctuary, to the South-East.

Next merchant you might want to visit is Rufus Rubins from Goodneighbor. To find the man you want to find Hotel Rexford first. As you enter the city, pass the Guns by holding to the left and turn left to pass by the Third Rail to the left. In front of you will be Memory Den and to the left from Memory Den will be Hotel Rexford. Once inside, you will find Rufus to the left, sitting near the window or on the couch, or he can just be around the entrance area. He also has a shipment of Screws.

Lastly, if you are friends with Railroad, you can talk to Tinker Tom. He also sells shipments of Screws and other cool stuff. If you haven&#;t met Railroad faction yet, you can find them in the Old North Church. The church is situated in the eastern part of the map, beneath the Bunker Hill and to the east from Trinity Tower. Once you are in the church, find the way into the basement. It is located to the right from the main entrance. After you explore basement and find the switch, you will need to enter the password in the switch. The pass is RAILROAD. To input it in the switch just activate matching letters from any word.

Finding Screws in Fallout 4

Crafting weapons, modifications, armor, and more in Fallout 4 requires certain components that can be found throughout The Commonwealth. Many of these components can be obtained by scrapping the junk you find throughout your journeys. Screws are essential to crafting, in addition to creating and upkeeping your settlement.

The Scrapper Perk

The scrapper perk is definitely one you should have. It will allow you to get screws from weapons and armor you scrap. With additional levels, it will allow you to get rarer materials such as circuitry and fiber optics. Level three of the perk will double the amount of uncommon materials you find, such as screws.

Locations

Desk fans are incredibly plentiful throughout the Commonwealth. The same goes for hot plates. Desk fans will be found in any office building. Hot plates will be in any kitchen. Any of the toys, such as the Giddyup Buttercup, will be found at Wilson Atomatoys Corporate HQ. This is conveniently located right near Diamond City. If you have the caps, and want to buy in bulk, you

can always go to a merchant and purchase a large order of components (like screws). Arturo in Diamond City will have just what you’re looking for. Rufus Rubins, located in the Hotel Rexford in Goodneighbor also has a shipment of screws. Additionally, Tinker Tom in Railroad HQ has a shipment of screws. Finally, if you can find the wandering trader Trashcan Carla, she will have screws for you as well. She may also be in Bunker Hill if she is currently not wandering, so make sure you check there.

Finding screws 4 fallout

I am having trouble keeping my defense up (with turrets). I know I can buy shipments but that's kind of pricey. Are there any locations that are good for picking up items that contain screws? I have them tagged and pick up every screw-containing scrap of junk I can find but I'm still constantly out of screws.

I don't that the scrapper perk. Should I get it?
yes get the scrapper perk pretty much every pipe weapon contains atleast 1 screw.

As an added benefit some of them contain a copper, too.

This post has +3 to topic derailment.

Yeah, if you wanna get screwed, get the Scrapper perk.

Cover your knees up if you're gonna be walkin' around everywhere.

Almost any of the old office buildings would be a good place to look: should be able to find one or more fans in almost every room, rooms with lots of desks usually have lots of fans.

For buying a shipment of screws:
You can lower the price by raising your charisma. If you put on charisma enhancing gear (a suit, certain hats and glasses) that will give you +4 charisma and then you can drink a beer (+1 charisma) and/or take some grape mentats (+5 charisma).

IE: if you went from a charisma of 5 to a charisma of 15 that'd drop the price by more than half.
(if you have a high charisma already I believe the bonus caps at 16 charisma)

And if you need money don't forget to check your ammo section: I wouldn't sell ammo like shotgun shells or fusion cells or any of the rarer ammo but if you've done Finch Farms and aren't going to use a flamer odds are you have a couple thousand rounds of flamer ammo on you that you can sell or if you've been grabbing all the ammo you see as you get going in the game you use pipe weapons less and less and I know I eventually got up to over rounds of that stuff before I started unloading it at vendors.

every building has has fans and toys, trucks or cars, all give u screws and other useful things. and they aren't super heavy so just grab all of them u see

Wilson Atomatoys Corporate HQ, East of Diamond City. Lousy with Super Mutants, but at the bottom floor at the rear of the place, there should be tons of Giddyup Buttercup parts, and several full Giddyup Buttercup horses. Tons of screws, but also tons of weight. Command your companion to pick them up.

There's also the Wilson Atomatoys Factory, West of the Quincy Ruins. Also has Super Mutants (boy, Super Mutants sure love Giddyup Buttercups!), but there are only Giddyup Buttercup parts and no full Giddyup Buttercup horses, and since this deep in the South part of the map, the Super Mutants are harder than the ones at the Wilson Atomatoys Corporate HQ. Still, the parts over there should contain quite a lot of screws on their own.
