General Information

Approved Vendors

All printing and production of materials that use U-M registered trademarks must be done by a licensed vendor. This applies to both U-M departments and student groups.

Email Signatures

Every email program is a little different. In general, to add the U-M logo to your email signature you will want to insert a link to an uploaded image. If you&#;re using Gmail, use the “Insert Image” button under the settings option for signature. If you want to use your unit&#;s logo signature instead, you should contact your unit IT or marketing department for that link. NOTE: the image must be uploaded to a server to display correctly. If you need assistance, ask your IT professional. A signature-sized university logo is available here:

Endorsements & Recruiting

External companies may identify the university as a client and describe in factual terms the product or service provided. But they are not permitted to use the Block M or any other university logo without prior permission from the ID Standards team. Nor can the U-M logo, the Block M or other U-M registered trademarks be used in recruiting materials by external companies.

University units. Similarly, individual university units may not provide testimonial quotes about a product or service received from a vendor.

University employees. If you want to provide a testimonial for a product or service in your personal capacity, you must take care that your statement is not mistaken as a university endorsement. This means that you must make it clear that you are speaking only on your own behalf. If you include your university title, you must also include the following language: “Title provided for identification purposes only. The views and opinions expressed are those of the individual only and do not necessarily reflect the positions of the University of Michigan.”

Film Office

Planning to film on campus? U-M&#;s Film Office can help with planning, site selection, and much more. Our campus offers a wide range of exterior and interior settings, including the world-famous Law Quad and the beautiful Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Visit the U-M Film Office website for information on guidelines and fees, and to download forms, or [email protected] or phone

Licensing & Royalties

All purchases bearing any registered trademark of the university must be made by a manufacturer licensed by the university.

Political Campaigns

The use of U-M registered trademarks in political campaigns is prohibited. This PDF contains more information about university policy. If you have questions, contact the Office of the Vice President and Secretary of the University.

&#;Victors&#; Recordings

&#;The Victors,&#; U-M&#;s fight song, is in the public domain and may be freely played. If you want to use the Michigan Marching Band’s recording of the song, however, you’ll need to get permission and proper clearances. For more information, email the Marching Band.

Burton Tower Lighting Guidelines

Burton Tower lighting is a venue for the university to promote messages of importance to the campus community. Lighting can be celebratory, or can be used to commemorate or memorialize. In general, the tower is lighted to mark events such as commencement and U-M’s other proud occasions and achievements.

The tower will not be lit for political purposes, personal events (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc.) or for any non-UM purpose.

The Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President for Communications have the final decision-making authority on Burton Tower lighting.

Congratulations Graduates!

The University of Michigan graduation has come and gone here in Ann Arbor and as usual, it came with a bang!  Figuratively speaking of course, but truly the entire Bakehouse was booming with business (along with all of the restaurants in Ann Arbor).  Here in the cake department we made around cakes in 2 days—that’s about times what we normally make in a 2-day span!  On Friday alone we made 91 cakes, 43 of those with a graduation decoration.  So many in fact, that we have to number each one to make sure every cake goes to its proper place.  On Thursday we made Block M graduation butter cookies that were dispersed to numerous companies and private parties.  We also made one custom graduation cake with painted viruses for a man graduating and going into virology (study of viruses).  Needless to say—busy busy busy.

Included are some pictures that we took to show you what graduation is like for us.  Enjoy and congratulations to all the graduates around the country!

Our speed racks on Friday filled with cakes of all sorts of flavors like chocolate, buttermilk, and Hummingbird.
Just an example of cakes from Thursday. This year's design for round cakes was Maize n' Blue ribbons and balls.
Oh Michigan cookies! For graduation we write the year on the cookie (instead of a football which is what we use in the fall).
This is the virology cake for Dr. Johnson. We know there is influenza and the HIV virus. Anyone out there who studies virology know any of the others?
Boxes all folded up and ready to be filled with cakesthis isn't even for the biggest day!

Well, why not agree when such a fat. I may grumble, but this team is one of the most successful in the game. Okay.

The day we agreed to meet. I didn't just walk from work, but something carried me, so invisible and light. At home, I had a quick bite to eat and threw off everything, remained only in. Sneakers, looked to see if I had forgotten anything and went out into the yard.
