Our Speedway-exclusive Performance Automatic torque converters overcome problems with upgraded engines paired with stock ” converters, which idle at a leisurely RPM. Smaller diameter torque converters provide more slip at idle, and allow your high-horsepower engine to idle better. These torque converters handle increased horsepower and RPMs more effectively, giving you maximum torque multiplication when it’s needed.

B&M Nitrous Holeshot Torque Converter, GM TH, TH & TH , THB
B&M Nitrous HoleShot stall for GM TH, TH, TH and TH, THB (not THC.) The Nitrous Holeshot stall converter are an excellent choice for vehicles with many engine modifications, particularly big cams that tend to reduce low end power and torque. The higher stall speed of this converter will launch the car in a higher rpm range where more torque is readily available, resulting in quicker acceleration. Nitrous Holeshot converters feature furnace brazed impeller and turbine, new precision steel alloy pump drive tube, new heavy duty needle bearings between the stator and impeller (not a thrust washer) and needle bearings between the stator and turbine. Other features include dual pattern and inch bolt circle, a new turbine hub, new springs and rollers in the stator and anti-balloon plates. The anti-balloon plates will allow these converters to stand up to the instant horsepower that a nitrous plate system delivers. Stall speed listings are based on engines producing lb. ft. of torque at 2, rpm. More torque at 2, rpm will give you more stall speed, less torque at 2, rpm will give you less stall speed than the stall speed ratings indicated. These are serious converters for serious performance street cars. To prevent contamination left from worn parts being circulated in your new components causing premature wear, we strongly recommend protecting your investment by adding a B&M transmission cooler with all new transmission installations. Listed converters are NOT to be used in trans-brake applications. Not for use in trans-brake applications.

Contrary to popular belief, furnace brazing is not the best way to adhere torque converter components to together. Just like a Teflon coated pan, after some time the furnace brazing will erode away and ruin the stators and all other rotating parts in your transmission. What is Torque Converter Stall?
Stall speed is the point where a converter has reached it's maximum fluid flow or it has hydraulically locked up because torque multiplication has reached it's highest point.
All stall speed ratios are approximate and will vary, based on the torque of the engine. Small and Big Block combinations will vary to R.P.M.'s Stall speed is the amount of engine R.P.M. that can be attained at full throttle with the brakes locked and the transmission in gear before the drive wheels turn. It is very important to determine that if your vehicle drive wheels turn before the desired stall is reached, you must either "flash" the converter to attain higher stall or install a brake proportioning valve that directs more fluid to the drive wheel brakes to better hold the vehicle. In either case, attainable stall ratio will not exceed R.P.M., due to the vehicle braking system, which is even worse with disc brake equipped cars.
Performance engines are modified to produce more horsepower and torque and it is essential to know what the peak torque or your engine is and to match the stall speed ratio of the torque converter with the engines power curve. This match will give the optimum performance or "launch" of the vehicle. There are no closer-tied components in any vehicle than the engines' camshaft and the torque converter. Attention to this detail is of utmost importance to your vehicle's optimum performance.
