The GLDP Associate is an opportunity to jump start a career with the BMW Group over a period of 18 months. You’ll work within several unique rotations in various departments of the company to gain a broad range of experience, which includes two international rotations; one at the BMW headquarters in Munich and another in any BMW subsidiary worldwide. You’ll work with other associates on various cross-disciplinary teams and have the opportunity to work on challenging business projects while having experienced manager’s support as you move through each rotation.
Global Leader Development Program Associates (GLDP) gain insight into business processes, strategy, culture, and the BMW Group brands from both a local and global perspective. By establishing your international network, you will support and contribute to strategic and operational projects in three different countries providing a solid basis for a successful international career at the BMW Group. Rotations include the following time frame: 5 months in BMW of North America, 3 months in BMW Headquarters in Munich, 5 months in BMW of North America and last 3 months in a second international BMW location. Complimentary elements of the program include short-term operational placements such as: production environment, warehouse and distribution centers, and various other business units of the BMW Group.
The GLDP will start in April 2021 and will have opportunities within various areas of our Marketing department, during local rotations. The program offers functional and development support, senior mentorship, numerous networking opportunities and ultimately contributes to key areas of the business.
Examples of the types of roles and responsibilities for this GLDP Associate position include (but are not limited to):
- Providing process improvements and an external perspective in support of driving greater value for BMW
- Conducting in-depth benchmarking/research on existing and emerging trends, while identifying new solutions
- Collaborating and managing relationships with department managers, associates and international process partners
- Serving as a support to cross functional areas within the larger BMW Group

OUR TRAINEE PROGRAMME: THE GLOBAL LEADER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME.

PROGRAMME CONTENT IN DETAIL.
GLOBAL ASSIGNMENTS.
The programme consists of four assignments in various departments. Two assignments take place in the respective home country and two abroad. You gain insights into business processes, strategy, culture, and our brands from both a local and global perspective.
NETWORKING.
Establishing an excellent international network, as well as working on strategic and operational projects in three different countries provides a solid basis for a successful international career at the BMW Group.
MENTORING.
As a GLDP participant you will have an experienced manager who acts as your personal mentor and supports your personal and professional development.
SHORT-TERM PLACEMENTS.
Broaden your horizon and get to know the BMW Group in total: During short-term placements, you gain insights into production and sales or customer service to learn more about processes and understand our customers.
JOINT TEAM PROJECTS.
You will join dynamic teams to tackle exciting and varied projects – during your assignments but also in joint team projects with other trainees around the world.
TRAINING & COURSES.

THE PROGRAMME AT A GLANCE.
Your way into the programme.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with excellent grades (Master’s degree preferred)
- At least six months of relevant work experience (e.g. internships, training, initial professional experience)
- A maximum of two to three years’ professional working experience
- At least four months of relevant experience abroad (e.g. studies, practical experience, work & travel)
- Extracurricular involvement (e.g. initial leadership experience in a university, community, or work setting, engagement in a student project, political or charity organization)
- Fluency in German and English (additional languages would be advantageous).
