You have done a lot of nice work on that car.
What car did the drivers side plastic pickup come from?

I know the E0xx was off a E Motorhome. I want to say the others were off various Torinos. I probably should've taken note of what I was yanking these out of.

Here's a better picture. Less glare
Don't mind the crappy air cleaner lid. I have a brand new chrome one painted the same aluminum color as the current one.
Also, this engine bay is WAY to messy for me. I still have alot more work/cleaning/neatening to do. Ugh.

Here's a picture from today (not the best) with the new flexible ducts.
Part # for those is: Mighty Flow - Had to hunt these down. Finally found them on Ebay. I think someone is hoarding them.
Pre-Heater Hose # is Dorman/HELP!
Once it's completely done, I'll post some better pictures.

That is a truly awesome setup and I will be looking for Mustangs and I think the dual snorkel was also used in the L Fox Body LTD LX models , so that may be another chance to find them in yards, if a very small one. Here is a guy on CarDomain with one of those cars:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride//ford-ltd-lx/

That air cleaner with liter EFI HO decal is in one of the pictures.

I've got one of these here thats sitting around. Anyone who wants it can have it if you want to pay the shipping. It was on a car I bought recently and I swapped it out. I would say shipping around $30 due to size. PM me if interested.

How'd you run the vacuum lines for this? I've got an air cleaner, and some lines and some stubs where whomever pulled it just snipped vac lines. What did you go with?

I see you also ran the driver side intake thru where the windshield washer fluid reservoir was. No place else to do it, really. Got my air cleaner off craigslist from a guy who used to live in the neighborhood back in Philly 25 years ago.

I picked up a washer tank off a 96 T-Bird. It fits perfect between the radiator support and header panel. I haven't mounted or hooked it up yet. As for the vacuum lines: there's the 2 vacuum motors. Those get T'd around back.
After looking at that, I think I may have mine hooked up wrong. I know for sure that the vacuum motors are supposed to go to the white connector. Which leads me to believe, the big green port needs a hose running the "Vacuum Tree" as I call it mounted on the fire wall.

Thanks! Will look at mine again. My cleaner was of an EFI motor, so I think it has more ports than that, but those I'll just block off.  Carb/EFI didn't seem to matter any, altho I had to slightly tighten up the neck-carb seat area with a couple light hammer taps. Thanks for the washer tank info, I'll scope one out at the u-pull-it.

Mlachance: If I might bother you for a couple pics of how you hooked up the ducting on the drivers side. I have my dual snorkel on; I used the stock air inlet location and tubes on the passenger side and I'd like to see what you did on the driver's side. I will post pics later this afternoon. Many thanks for an ultra cool idea, and your help. This forum rocks! Car definitely runs better than with the 14" x 3" open element cleaner I had on there

Low profile dual snorkel air cleaner from Autozone

A couple of weeks ago i posted looking for suggestions for a low profile air cleaner. What i ended up finding was a dual snorkel air cleaner similar to the ones on the thunderbolts. The unit i bought was from AutozoneIt is made by Spectre http://www.spectreperformance.com). The good news is that they had it and that the price at Autozone had just dropped from $ to $ The base is a bit thin but since it needed some minor "adjustment" to clear the float bowl valves on the Holley i guess that was okay. The bad news is that I bought a ° unit. One side is running into the master cylinder. I am going to switch to a Ranger MC anyway and that may help but any of the other inlet angles would have worked better for me. I may try to change out the unit for one with a different inlet angle if they have it. Come to think of it i may be able to cut the snorkel hole shorter

The one i bought is the same as this picture. Summit lists at $
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE/

The other inlet angles that are supposed to become available have the following part numbers:

° - P/N (this is the only one that shows up on the Spectre website)
° - P/N
° - P/N

The key element for me was a " height above the carb flange. That leaves me with a bit more than 1/4" clearance, according to the clay i stuck on top of the carb.

Anyone with this same problem might want to check out their local Autozone. I couldn't find it on the Autozone website at all.

  • What are the real differences in the dual snorkel air cleaners?
  • Externally, Diameter, 82 GT's and RS's use 15" DS (Dual Snorkle)

Unless you wanted an 82 GT or RS automatic then you got automatically downgraded to a single snorkle

Breifor Litregreat non American EnglishI feel right at home

The 83/84/85 all 17". 4V Carb low GVW F trucks and E vans (/// which weren't Liter F's and 'S were normally single or dual snorkle, 17" as well.

Again, a downgrade to single snorkle if you wanted air con on your 4V truck.

82's use the ages old small 15" diameter Ford V8 base, and have size reduction on the 83/84/85's which is great for " deck Windsors and " deck Cleveland Fox conversions..the big 17" tends to get too close to the firewall on them. Transplanted 's, M's and /'s they just clear with it in Foxes, but then you have hood height issues.

Internallythe 82 pressing is 2bbl, so Big Friendly Hammer time needed to clear a Holley 4bbl front and back float bowl.

the 4V HO 83/84/85 17", Dual snorkle Truck // 4V and CFi 84/85 17" all look the same externally, but there are flange differences for the CFi and sensor color differences for the Truck.

    Details here:-

The twin snorkle // Truck / CFI/4BBL 4V 3" dual snokle air cleaner flows cfm at the operating pressure drop.

17" external diameter common to all

It has an internal filter 13 inch element, up 1 inch on the 15" external 82 2V GT's dual inlet housing.

    http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre#post

Every M code CFI air cleaner uses the /8" 2-bbl CFi flange tangs and as JACook and others have observed, a 1/4" bigger base diameter than the 4V, so it won't fit any / or c properly with out work.

Every M code 4V HO has the Ford's smaller version of the /8" Holley 2 and 4bbl upper carb flange, but with a tight twin metal tang.

Every HO CFI and probably passenger M code 4V HO I've seen has

    1. the Green and

    2. Purple color "TVS" stamped vac hookups, and

    3. one steel vac hookup.

Ford calls the first two A/CL CWM: Air Cleaner Cold Weather Modulators.

The third, 3 A/CL BI MET: Air Cleaner Bi-Metallic Valve. Each are color coded depending on application, blue, red, and no third color usually. Some have a third color, often yellow or black.

The Purple runs to the A/CL DV: Air Cleaner Duct & Valve and TAB and TAD solenoids on the CFi, and on the passenger 4bbl HO, the same second CWM is for the air pump system, for models that don't have TAB and TAD solenoids.

This 4V carby HO air cleaner from 79mustangshows the same fadded Purple TVS.

4bbl Truck's at and from have sometimes one Green and always one White valve stamped TVS, still called by Ford A/CL CWM: Air Cleaner Cold Weather Modulators , and lots of little C/ EG related changes.

We wiped Tanyusha's back and left the house. We had a very strange feeling inside, we just took part in something transcendent, perverted, dirty and for some reason exciting. While we were returning home, a crying Tanyusha appeared before my eyes, jerking herself off and being fucked by a huge dog. And in their ears all stood her words "I'm fucked by a dog. " These memories aroused incomprehensible feelings in me.
