My Gunpowder/Creeper Farm on Minecraft isn't working

I made a creeper farm in my survival world with the normal idea of trapdoors, carpet, a cat, etc. I know that the hopper system for picking up the drops will work, but no creepers will spawn in!

This is the tutorial I used if it helps any:

Originally I built it just like he had it (which was relatively low to the ground), and nothing would spawn. So I raised it to be 128 blocks off the ground, because of the 128 spawn radius (which was really scary to build in survival lol).

I added torches on top of the farm so they wouldn't spawn there, and made a little room about 50 blocks under it to camp, and got nothing. After this I tried camping 50 blocks above the farm, and still got nothing. I built an antenna that went 20 blocks above the farm & 15 blocks out, still nothing.

To get the obvious questions out of the way, I am not on peaceful while I am camping. I am also the only player on my world. I am on windows 10 edition, I am not sure if that impacts anything. Also, it is definitely dark enough for mobs to spawn. It's a survival world, so to get good pictures I copied the world & put it in creative.

There is never this much light, I just broke part of the wall to get a picture of the insideThis is how tall it is

How to build a creeper farm in Minecraft

Creepers are an absolute nightmare for Minecraft players. While building something in Minecraft, the last thing players would want is a creeper sneaking and destroying the build.

Even though creepers are terrifying, they are one of the best sources of gunpowder in Minecraft. However, killing creepers manually can be a slow process. Players can build a creeper farm to get loads of gunpowders.

This article is a step-by-step guide on building a simple creeper farm in Minecraft.

Build a creeper farm in Minecraft

Here are the items needed to build a creeper farm in Minecraft. Make sure to have these items ready before starting to build the farm.

  • Two hoppers
  • Two chest
  • Lots of trapdoors
  • Lots of building blocks
  • Two cats
  • Lava bucket
  • four signs
  • 12 carpets

Step 1: Make a 3x2 pit

The first step is to create a pit of three blocks long and two blocks wide. This farm can be built on any biome in the overworld, except mushroom biomes.

After creating the pit, make a 2x2x2 wall of solid blocks on both sides of the pit, as shown in the image.

Step 2: Build the structure for the farm

The next step is to place three blocks diagonally on both sides of the pillars, as shown in the above image. After placing the last block, extend it to make a line of five blocks on both sides.

Join sides (Image via Minecraft)

Finally, join both sides using blocks, as shown in the image. Repeat the same step on the other side of the farm.

Increase height (Image via Minecraft)

Increase the height of blocks by one block.

Step 3: Build a ceiling of trap doors

The ceiling of trapdoors (Image via Minecraft)

This farm requires a lot of trapdoors as its entire ceiling is made of trap doors. This is done to prevent mobs such as zombies or skeletons from spawning. As creepers are scared of cats, players can use them to force creepers into a death chamber.

Trapdoors for cats (Image via Minecraft)

Place a trap door in the center of the wall, as shown in the image. Do this for both sides. After this, place trap doors on the top edge of the blocks and build a roof.

Step 4: Add cats

Bring cats (Image via Minecraft)

Now it's time to add cats to scare the creepers away. Players can tame cats using cod or salmon. After taming, take them to the roof of the farm and nudge them over the trap door, as shown in the image. Do this for both sides, and remember to make them sit.

Step 5: Build the roof of the farm

Since light can pass through trap doors, players have to cover the roof of the farm using any solid blocks. After building the top, confirm that there is no light inside the farm.

Step 6: Place carpets and trap doors on the pit

Put carpets (Image via Minecraft)

The next step is to place carpets on both in the exact pattern, as shown in the image. Make sure the distance between each carpet from the other is two blocks.

Place trap doors (Image via Minecraft)

Now, place three trap doors on both sides of the pit and switch them down. Creepers think of trap doors as a complete block. While escaping from them, they will fall into the trap.

Step 7: Build collection system

Create a water pathway leading to hoppers connected to a double chest. Make sure the path is long, as shown in the image.

Place signs (Image via Minecraft)

At the end of the pathway, create a lava trap to kill the creepers. Players can use signs to hold lava above. Creeper's head will go into the lava and die. The gunpowder dropped by creepers will get collected in the chest.

Step 8: Farming creepers

After building the collection system, the farm will be ready. This farm works best when the player is 120 blocks above the chest. It is because of all the caves and other unlit areas. If there are already mobs taking up space, the farm won't spawn creepers.

This works on Pocket Edition!

Charged creeper farming is an easy method of creating charged creepers for later detonation to obtain a mob head. As charged creepers are only created when a creeper is struck by lightning, charged creeper farms can be difficult to build. The simplest design is the 'creeper field' design, where creepers are kept in cells below the ground in a flat area.

Farm designs[]

Creeper only farm[]

When trapdoors are placed on a 2 block high ceiling, it lowers the height to 1 1316 blocks high. This is tall enough to allow creepers to spawn, but short enough to prevent other mobs such as zombies and skeletons. In Bedrock Edition, this mechanic is rubbish and may not work. Some Creeper farms can also spawn Spiders, so be aware of that. This is easily avoided by removing 3*3 areas in the farm.

You can make a creeper farm by placing a spawning platform in an ocean to maximize spawning rates. Make a 2 block wall and the roof has to be trapdoors. Place cats in boats in the end of the farm to scare the creepers away and it will direct the creepers to the other end in which you will have a water stream guiding the creepers to a kill mechanism which can be manual, with campfires, magma blocks....

Another way to get the creepers to move into a killing zone it to place a snow golem at one end. These snow golems must be at least 3 blocks away from all creepers otherwise the creepers explode, killing the golems. Snow golems are the only creature that players can create that naturally attack creepers.

Charged creeper farm[]

This farm works with a general mob farm attached to a filter to obtain only the creepers. It then gives each creeper its own 'cell.' The system detects when lightning strikes a cell and then moves the charged creeper into a separate area.

This type of farm is very expensive to build and is not recommended unless you have a lot of time and resources. It is probably better to create a creeper only farm and use a channeling trident to charge the creepers. The mob filter however may be interesting for platforms which do not have reliable creeper only farms.

Charging creepers[]

Charged creepers are necessary to obtain mob heads (except for wither skeletons'). Charged creeper farming is one way to create charged creepers. Since the introduction of Channelingtridents, these methods have mostly become obsolete. However, they may still be useful in some editions.

In order for a creeper to become charged, lightning must strike within a 4x4 area of it. Charged creepers despawn just like regular creepers, so it may be prudent to nametag any creepers that you wish to keep for an extended period of time.

Channeling trident[]

You can use a trident with the Channeling enchantment to summon lightning during a thunderstorm. Simply create a collection area for a Creeper farm that is small enough that the creepers will be within 4 blocks of the lightning strike. Then, wait for a thunderstorm and throw a channeling trident at one of the creepers. Note that the creepers must be exposed to the sky for the Channeling enchantment to work. It is recommended to have the Loyalty enchantment on the trident to allow for easy retrieval.

Creeper field[]

Creeper fields are one of the simplest charged creeper farm designs. They consist of a flat field with 'cells' dug into ground containing creepers. This kind of farm is easiest to create on flat surroundings. Once built, the farm can be set up to supply mob heads with minimal effort. This can be achieved by placing trapdoors underneath the cells leading to a 'detonation chamber,' a room for blowing up other mobs with the charged creepers to obtain heads.

It is possible to make this type of farm more efficient by surrounding the creeper with other mobs. If there is an entity within a 3x3 area of the lightning strike, the lighting will strike at that entity instead. Manipulating lightning like this is known as "lightning farming." For more information, see lightning mechanics.

Minecart storage[]

Since Java Edition 1.16, mobs that are riders of other entities do not despawn. This includes passengers of boats and minecarts, which means a mob is both prevented from despawning and removed from the mob cap when caught in a boat or a minecart. A possible application of this is to create charged creeper farms without the use of name tags.

To operate, the farm requires a creeper-only farm connected to a storage system. As creepers spawn, they are put into minecarts, which prevents them from despawning and removes them from the mob cap. These creepers are then stored, and when a thunderstorm hits, these creepers will be unloaded (because minecarts will be destroyed by the lightning) in a tight area, and the player can throw a Channeling trident at an armor stand with sky access, and the lightning will charge all creepers in the process. These charged creepers are now loaded in minecarts again, and can now be stored until further notice. A nearby regular mob farm that produces zombies, skeletons and creepers can now be connected to the charged creeper storage, enabling mob head farming.

Time stopped for me and I felt my penis cumming in my mouth and I swallowed with great pleasure and pleasure. This nectar turned out to be. Petrovich groaned and I started to inflate, as it seemed, like a ball from his sperm, since he hammered my hole with his penis like a cork.
