Research on Headlight for Honda Pilot
A headlight is something you never want to drive without. Whether a bulb burns out or there is an electrical problem in the assembly or the vehicle, the issue should be addressed right away so your ride is safe. Driving an SUV comes with responsibility. The vehicle is larger than many on the road. A collision can therefore have devastating consequences. You can minimize the risks by replacing the headlights, and avoid getting a ticket for breaking the law.
Why Headlights Go Bad
There are a few reasons why your headlights might malfunction or fail entirely. It's not out of the question for the Honda Pilot headlight bulb to burn out. After all, light bulbs burn out all the time. They can do so prematurely from exposure to the elements or from impacts, moisture entry, or corrosion. An impact can crack the lens and limit visibility. It can cause water and other contaminants to get inside the assembly. Damage to electrical sockets, wiring, relays, and fuses can take out your headlights. Lighting problems don't have to be from the bulb or assembly, as dimming or intermittent function can be caused by another electrical system problem such as a bad switch, relay, or alternator.
What Is a Headlamp in a Car?
The headlamp refers to the device that includes the bulbs, lens, socket, and housing located at the front of the vehicle. Although it is often called a headlight, this term is technically the beam emitted by the unit. A 2006 Honda Pilot headlight bulb, for example, is accessed via the rear of the headlamp. Regulations control placement, use, color, beam direction, and other aspects of automotive lighting systems. The most common forms of lighting used are halogen, xenon, and LED, each with its own advantages. The typical headlamp assembly includes high and low beams, turn signals, and reflective optics.
Who Invented the Headlights?
The light bulb was invented in 1879, by Thomas Edison. Complete electric lighting was not used in automobiles until 1908, although the first electric headlamp was introduced in 1898. Originally, headlamps on automobiles had acetylene flames or were oil powered.
2004-2005 Honda Pilot Headlight Recall
Although not requiring 2005 Honda Pilot headlight assembly replacement, a recall affecting the Pilot and other vehicles involved a wiring assembly serving the headlight switch. The low beams could fail due to the defective wires. Replacing the affected part resolved the problem.
Cost of Fixing Headlights on Your Honda Pilot
A new 2003 Honda Pilot headlight bulb can go anywhere from $5 to $100, depending on the type. If 2009 Honda Pilot headlight bulb replacement is not the answer, then a new assembly can go for $110 to $190 per pair. You'll find even better prices at PartsGeek.com. Headlights and other automotive parts and accessories are sold online at low prices, thanks to a low overhead and our innate desire to help you save on the parts you need. Restoring your front lighting, and safety, is therefore possible without paying more than necessary. Your vehicle will also meet important legal requirements.

The video above shows you to replace the headlight in your 2009 Honda Pilot. Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out - for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your Pilot at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side. In some Hondas, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vise versa). Some Hondas have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. These bulbs have a very high voltage that runs through them, even if the battery is disconnected. If your Pilot has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself.
When you change the headlight on your Pilot, it is important to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your fingertips will cause that part of the bulb to burn hotter, which significantly shortens the life of the bulb.
