Hotels Near Interstate 65 in Southern Alabama

(Photo: Digital Vision./Photodisc/Getty Images )

Interstate is a major U.S. north-south artery running between the Chicago area and the Gulf of Mexico. As I extends into southern Alabama, it makes slight turn toward the southwest, becoming the main thoroughfare between Montgomery and Mobile. Travelers looking for lodging along this stretch of highway will find several clusters of hotels at various towns, generally ranging in price from budget to moderate.

Hope Hull/Southern Montgomery

Along the southern outskirts of Montgomery in Hope Hull, several hotels are clustered where I meets the Mobile Highway (US 31). The moderately priced Comfort Suites (comfortsuites.com) is located on Folmar Parkway just off the freeway, offering expanded guest rooms with separate living space, along with an exercise room and a complimentary breakfast. For tighter budgets, the nearby Motel 6 Montgomery Airport/Hope Hull (motel6.com) offers a no-frills hotel stay but does provide an outdoor swimming pool. A Waffle House is located within one block of both properties.

Greenville

Located about 35 miles south of Hope Hull, the town of Greenville offers a number of hotels, most of which are accessible from exit , where I meets State Highway Most of these properties are modestly priced, among them the Quality Inn & Suites (qualityinn.com), which provides an outdoor pool and exercise facilities along with a free hot breakfast. For a bit more comfort, the higher-priced Hampton Inn Greenville (hamptoninn.hilton.com) offers the same basic services as the Quality Inn, along with more comfortable beds and in-room lap desks. Numerous dining options are in the immediate vicinity of both hotels, including Shoney's and Ruby Tuesday.

Evergreen

Another 35 miles down the highway from Greenville at the Evergreen exit (exit 96), a few additional hotels are available for modest rates. These include the Sleep Inn & Suites (sleepinn.com) and the Days Inn Evergreen (daysinn.com), both of which offer lodging at reasonable rates. While the Days Inn provides basic rooms with limited amenities, the slightly more expensive Sleep Inn also offers an outdoor pool and fitness facilities. Dining options at this exit are basically of the fast-food variety, with a few additional restaurants found a couple of miles down the road in Evergreen.

Atmore

Just off the Atmore exit (exit 57), about 50 miles northeast of Mobile, the Wind Creek Casino and Hotel (windcreekcasino.com) is one of the few luxury hotels along this stretch of I The hotel features well-appointed rooms and suites with comfortable bedding, along with all the features expected with a casino/resort, including several fine restaurants, gaming, live entertainment and even a full-service spa. For tighter budgets, the Holiday Inn Express Atmore (hiexpress.com) is located next door, offering comfortable rooms and a free breakfast bar at moderate rates.

Mobile

The city of Mobile itself offers a wide variety of hotel choices along multiple exits of I These range from the economical Super 8 Mobile (super8.com) along Moffett Road (exit 5B) to the upscale Hilton Garden Inn Mobile West (hiltongardeninn.hilton.com), located off exit 3 adjacent to the Springdale and Bel Air malls along Airport Boulevard. Numerous restaurants are convenient to these hotel properties, including Zaxby's, Logan's, O'Charley's and many others.
