The original sprayer for my faucet was leaking. Found this item and thought it was the right part, but not totally sure as our faucet has a nickel finish. But it matched exactly. Installation was a breeze, not tools. Just unhooked the old, and hooked in the new one. No more leaks!

How to identify which hose your Moen faucet uses by connection type, detailed descriptions and what faucets the hoses were used with. It is recommended to first identify your faucet model number.

This guide will explain how to identify a Moen kitchen faucet hose. There have been design improvements to the faucet hoses through the years which include a variety of changes to materials, lengths and connection types.

Moen kitchen faucet hoses are not interchangeable, it is important to correctly identify your faucet hose to insure you order the correct kit. Follow the steps below to help identify your faucet hose.

Step 1: What type of faucet do you have?

Faucet hose lengths and styles vary between Pullout faucets and Pulldown faucets. They are unique to the faucet type and are not interchangeable.

Pullout Faucet

clipboard_e4aee97bb4ea65ccaef.png

The spray wand on a pullout faucet pulls upward or straight out toward you.

Pulldown Faucet

clipboard_e5bacc9fccab4fc.png

The spray wand on a pulldown faucet pulls down toward the sink.

Step 2: What type of faucet hose connection do you have?

How does the faucet hose connection attach to the faucet body under the sink?  Follow the faucet hose down under the sink to where it attaches the faucet body. The connection will look like one of the following:

clipboard_e0bbcb3f0f3b68b41fbpng

A Threaded Faucet hose:

The faucet would have used a faucet hose with one male or female threaded end that threads onto the metal faucet body.

Male Threaded- ,,

Female Threaded, ,

clipboard_eefc60f9a40e8ea4fb99f4de9b.png

A Single Quick Connect:

The faucet hose would have female threaded end that threads onto a plastic single Quick Connect. The Quick Connect is then snapped onto the smooth metal faucet body.

A Double Quick Connect:

The faucet hose would have used a double Quick Connect that is snapped onto the smooth metal faucet body.

& ,

Present

clipboard_e68d37bdc7dfafacb6babpng

A Built-in Quick Connect:

The faucet hose will use a Direct Connect that is snapped into a flexible tube that hangs down from the faucet body.

,

Step 3: What does the faucet hose coupling look like?

A faucet hose coupling is a connector that is attached to the end of the faucet hose where it meets the spray wand. This allows the spray wand to swivel.

How to Replace a Hose in Your Pull Out Kitchen Faucet

How to Replace a Leaky Sprayer on a Moen Kitchen Faucet

By Robert Ferguson

A leaking spray nozzle does not require you to replace the kitchen faucet.

Kitchen faucet sprayers offer added convenience to any kitchen sink. The sprayers attach to a water supply outlet on the faucet body underneath the sink. Because of excessive use as well as hard-water mineral deposits, the sprayer end can develop a leak or become clogged, causing significant pressure loss. Most faucet sprayers connect to the faucet in the same fashion, no matter its brand name. Unfortunately, some models require replacing the entire assembly, including the hose. When you purchase a new sprayer, it will include a new escutcheon, or sprayer base, that attaches to the sink.

Sprayer Nozzle and Hose Replacement

Turn off the water supplying the Moen kitchen faucet at the shutoff valve underneath the sink.

Place an adjustable wrench on the flat part of the threaded nipple of the water supply line that connects to the flexible hose of the sprayer nozzle. This is necessary to keep the water supply line from twisting. This connection is underneath the sink on the faucet body.

Loosen the nut on the flexible sprayer supply hose by turning it counterclockwise, using a pair of adjustable pliers to disconnect the hose.

Pull the sprayer out of the escutcheon from the top side of the sink. Remove the old escutcheon or sprayer base by loosening its retaining nut located underneath the sink with your hand or the adjustable pliers.

Assemble the new sprayer nozzle and hose according to manufacturer's instructions.

Install the new escutcheon or sprayer base by inserting it into its mounting hole and securing it from underneath the sink with a retaining nut.

Guide the end of the sprayer hose through the escutcheon or base so the end of the hose is underneath the sink.

Thread the end of the sprayer hose onto the water supply line located on the faucet body until it is snug. Tighten the connection an additional half turn using adjustable pliers. Remember to use the adjustable wrench to keep the water supply line on the faucet from twisting, which could cause significant damage to the faucet.

Turn on the shutoff valve to restore water to the faucet, and check for leaks.

Sprayer Nozzle Replacement

Turn off the water supplying the faucet at the shutoff valve underneath the sink.

Pull the sprayer nozzle out and away from the sink.

Hold the sprayer nozzle with your hand while simultaneously turning the retaining nut at the base of the sprayer nozzle counterclockwise to loosen and remove the sprayer nozzle body. Place a rag on the sprayer nozzle retaining nut to avoid damage to the nut if you have to use pliers to loosen it.

Insert a new rubber washer in the sprayer nozzle retaining nut on the hose.

Thread the nut onto the new sprayer nozzle and tighten it until it is snug, plus an additional quarter turn.

Test the sprayer nozzle for leaks.

Tips

  • Place the stopper or a rag in the sink drain to avoid loosing small parts.
  • Newspaper placed underneath plumbing connections helps identify leaks.

Warnings

  • Although it is not necessary to turn off the shutoff valve supplying the faucet to replace a sprayer, it helps to prevent a mess if the faucet inadvertently is turned on.
